MEET THE BAND

Loud As Funk is a high-energy funk, soul, R&B, and rock powerhouse built around one simple mission: bring the groove, bring the energy, and leave every audience wanting more. Founded in 2015 by drummer Reggie “Regg” Johnson, the band began with a weekly Los Angeles residency and quickly developed into a dynamic live act known for its musicianship, infectious grooves, powerful vocals, and ability to turn any room into a dance floor.

The band's documented core lineup has featured Reggie Johnson on drums, Myra Washington on vocals, Yuki “Lin” Hayashi on bass, Ariel Mann, Xavier Taplin on keyboards, and Clifton “Clif” Williams. Together, these musicians bring an impressive depth of experience and a résumé that reaches across funk, R&B, pop, rock, and soul. Their individual careers include work with and alongside major artists such as Prince, Babyface, Chris Brown, Patti LaBelle, Toto, and others.

Frontwoman Myra Washington brings a distinctive combination of powerhouse vocals, showmanship, and deep roots in funk and soul. A Houston native who established herself as a vocalist and entertainer in Los Angeles, Myra has also worked with legendary funk icon Bootsy Collins, adding another significant connection to the band's funk pedigree. Her experience and stage presence are central to the unmistakable Loud As Funk live experience.

Bassist Yuki “Lin” Hayashi is an internationally experienced musician whose résumé includes work with JMSN and collaborations and performances connected to artists such as John Mayer and Thundercat. Keyboardist Xavier Taplin has performed with legendary rock group Toto, while drummer and band founder Reggie Johnson has extensive professional credits, including his work as a drummer for Babyface. These individual accomplishments give Loud As Funk a level of musicianship that goes far beyond a typical cover or party band.

Loud As Funk has also made its mark as a recording artist. The band's releases include “Summer Everyday” (2019), “Coolest Mutha Funka's on the Planet” (2020), and “Friyay” (2021), with “Friyay” later receiving an EDM remix by Grammy-nominated producer Dave Audé featuring Myra Washington.

One of the band's most notable accomplishments came when “Coolest Mutha Funka's on the Planet” was selected as an R&B finalist in the 2022 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The song continued its journey into the international funk community when Loud As Funk won a coveted slot on the “Funk Not Fight” compilation associated with funk legend Bootsy Collins, with “Coolest Mutha Funka's on the Planet” representing the band on the compilation. The recognition placed Loud As Funk alongside a movement dedicated to using funk, music, and positive energy as a force for connection rather than conflict.

The band's music has also attracted attention from the international bass and funk community, including recognition from No Treble, which featured “Coolest Mutha Funkas On The Planet” among its most-watched bass videos of December 2020.

From Los Angeles to international audiences, Loud As Funk has continued to build its identity around live performance, original music, and an unapologetically funky sound. Whether delivering a tightly arranged groove, a soulful vocal performance, or an explosive live jam, the band brings the same philosophy to every stage: the music has to move you.

Loud As Funk isn't just a band you listen to—it's a band you experience. With veteran musicianship, powerhouse vocals, original music, a growing list of industry accomplishments, and a live show designed to bring people together, Loud As Funk continues to prove that funk is alive, powerful, and still capable of bringing everybody to the dance floor.

Loud As Funk: Keep it funky. Keep it positive. Keep it loud.
